CHRISTMAS DINNER

The New Forest Group of the Standard Motor Club held its first Christmas Dinner this year at The Star Inn where it has its meetings every second Tuesday in the Month thanks to the generousity of the Landlady.

The normal members were joined by old members and members of The Sarum Moonrakers 1012 MGOC (Salisbury MG Owners Club) making up 16 in all.

The weather had threatened to cancel the event, but thankfully it held off for that night.

Members brought raffle prizes with them which helped raise £51.

It is hoped to have joint runs throughout 2011 especially on 17^th April which is National Drive it Day.

THE MENU CHOICES

To start

• Winchester cheese soufflé, beetroot dressing
• Fish medley; home-cured gin salmon, crayfish tails & smoked mackerel with crème fraîche & dill dressing
• Parsnip and apple soup
• Chicken liver and wild mushroom parfait, toasted soda bread with pear and walnut chutney

Main course

• Roast butternut squash tagine, minted cous cous
• Roast pork loin, blue cheese polenta, braised red cabbage with haricot bean, smoked bacon and roast garlic casserole
• Paupiette of turkey, chestnut stuffing, cranberry sauce with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables
• Mixed seafood casserole, bubble & squeak, leek and wild mushrooms

Dessert

• Steamed mincemeat pudding, rum & raisin ice cream
• Chocolate & orange torte, blood orange coulis
• Classic crème brûlée
• Plate of local cheeses, home-made chutney, grapes & biscuits
